UP-NCTS capacitates 9 BLTFRB Technical Personnel on TAC

BLTFRB’s nine technical personnel involved in transportation and related functions underwent a series of Traffic Administration Courses facilitated by the University of the Philippines-National Center for Transportation Studies (UP-NCTS) on May 23– 27 and May 30 - June 03, 2022 at the BLTFRB Building, Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City. This undertaking was to capacitate the BLTFRB in executing its powers and functions.

This support was in accord with the signed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the LTFRB and BLTFRB specifically on the provision that the LTFRB would assist the BLTFRB on its absorptive capacity before it would assume full responsibility for the transferred powers and functions; and LTFRB would extend technical assistance to BLTFRB through training, seminars, and other activities which would enhance the capacity of the latter to perform its functions. The LTFRB and BLTFRB agreed on an essential training list and timeline of activities that form part of this MOA.

Furthermore, this pre-requisite training was recommended by DIOSDADO B. SANTIAGO, JR., OIC of LTFRB Planning and Monitoring Division, as agreed upon by and between LTFRB and BLTFRB, and approved by the MOTC in the BLTFRB WFP for FY 2022 respectively.

The training gave an overview of transportation planning and its interaction with land use to help participants learn how to create economically viable routes within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BAR).

Moreover, this aimed to familiarize the trainees about traffic issues relevant to the local traffic context; enhance their knowledge and skills in planning, management, and administration of transportation programs; illustrate the significance of outputs and results of travel demand forecasting models in transportation planning; learn the basic concepts in public transport operation; learn the basic methods of data collection and management for transportation operation, planning, and design, actual field survey and hands-on data processing and presentation; and learn programs on Road Traffic Safety.
