Two major infrastructure projects, which are the Construction of the Sanga-Sanga Airport Office Building, amounting to 7 million pesos under the Transitional Development Impact Fund ( TDIF) of MP Jose I. Lorena, and the Repair and Improvement of Sitangkai Port, worth 70 million pesos was allocated, under the Special Development Fund (SDF), were officially inaugurated on March 3, 2024, to prioritize and faster the implementation, and to start the works of the said projects in the province of Tawi-Tawi, bolstering a significant milestone of infrastructure development and connectivity.
Minister Paisalin Tago, CPA of the MOTC, the lead implementing agency, emphasized the crucial role of these two projects in enhancing regional connectivity and accessibility that resonates with the determination to build and empower a resilient island community where opportunities could spur economic prosperity.
Meanwhile, Director General Atty. Roslaine Macao-Maniri highlighted the significant impact of enhancing economic growth and streamlining logistical operations and capabilities. She also emphasized the relevance of collaboration between various agencies, local authorities, and the security sector to drive and sustain prosperity in Tawi-Tawi.
