MOTC with its attached agencies Gear Up in Davao City for Technical Budget Hearing Dry Run

Jul 14, 2024

Davao City became a hub of administrative scrutiny as the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, led by Minister Paisalin P. Tago, along with its 7 attached agencies such as the Bangsamoro Airport Authority (BAA), Civil Aeronautics Board of the Bangsamoro (CABB), Bangsamoro Land Transportation Office(BLTO), Bangsamoro LandTransportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (BLTFRB), Bangsamoro Ports Management Authority(BPMA) Bangsamoro Maritime Industry Authority (BMARINA), and Bangsamoro Telecommunications Commission (BTC), convened on July 13-14, 2024, for a pivotal Technical Budget Hearing (TBH) dry run.

This intensive session was meticulously crafted to fine-tune the Directives Accomplishment and Performance Assessment Tracking (DAPAT) Report and TBH presentations. The primary objectives included evaluating each ministry’s performance throughout the fiscal year 2022-2023 and refining proposed budgets for the forthcoming fiscal year 2025.

The first day of proceedings saw each agency presenting their Audio-Visual Presentations (AVPs) outlining their DAPAT Reports and initial TBH strategies.

These presentations served as a critical platform to showcase achievements and strategic plans, setting the stage for detailed deliberations on budget allocations. The following day was geared toward further refining these presentations and subjecting agencies to rigorous interpellations. Each agency underwent thorough questioning to scrutinize their proposals, equipping them to anticipate and address potential inquiries during the upcoming TBH sessions.

The TBH dry run not only provided ministries with a rehearsal platform but also fostered robust discussions on budgetary priorities and strategic initiatives. This preparatory phase aimed to enhance transparency and accountability in governmental financial planning, ensuring that proposals align with national development objectives.

Armed with insights from the dry run, ministries are poised to engage effectively in the upcoming TBH, demonstrating their readiness to responsibly manage public resources and drive sustainable growth.
