August 21, 2023 – Cotabato City, the MOTC’s selected employees participated in the ministry-wide sports feast that jumpstarted its program yesterday. Despite the holiday spell, active employees and sports enthusiasts came to compete for the first game with other opponents during a tune-up at the Prinshameen Covered Court, Lugay-Lugay, Bagua I, Cotabato City.
Wearing colorful jersey uniforms that distinctively recognized agencies, the kick start smashed a big hit from the cheering crowd echoing during the first basketball tournament interplayed by THE BLTO, BLTFRB, BMARINA, CABB, BAA, and BTC. It is a week-long competition.
The theme: “Fit for Public Service: Empowering Government Employees through Sports”, is designed to promote the health and wellness of government employees.
Recognizing the importance of physical fitness in maintaining a productive and balanced work life, this initiative aims to provide a platform for employees to engage in sports activities that contribute to their overall well-being. By fostering a culture of wellness, the government can enhance the physical and mental resilience of its workforce, leading to improved job satisfaction, productivity, and reduced absenteeism.
Sports and wellness programs anchored to Gender and Development (GAD) is a principle within government offices that can benefit employees’ health, well-being, and gender equality.
This activity is compliant with MC No. 38 s. 1992 to achieve long-term health thru exercise and related physical fitness activities. All departments, bureaus, and agencies of the national and local governments, including GOCC, are enjoined in this physical and mental fitness program.
