Lamitan City, Basilan (September 29, 2022) —through the efforts of Minister Dickson P. Hermoso, BPMA General Manager Garib A. Abas, Lamitan City Councilor Hon. Erwin B. Cervantes, OIC-Terminal Manager, and concurrent City Administrator Ken Calolot Bisal met with Manager Bobby Eng and Company of the Archipelago Philippine Ferries Corporation (APFC) and, Engineering to discuss a new set of transportation passenger vessels to operate route via Zamboanga City Port to Lamitan City Port and vice-versa. After 16 hour-trip, Roro Sea trial from Polloc-Lamitan Port has been completed 2:03 PM today.
APFC provides a vital maritime link between the Philippines’ 7641 and the surrounding islands. Since its incorporation in 2002, it has become a trusted shipping company that owns and operates the Philippines’ first and only Catamaran Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) ferries nationwide under the flagship of FastCat.
From this convergence, more vessels will be available to increase sea viability and people’s mobility from island to mainland provinces so that the mission to provide faster, more efficient and reliable transportation services will be achieved by the Bangsamoro.
