HAZMAT Simulation Exercise performed successfully

March 20, 2023 | In continuation from the Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Awareness Orientation held last March 17, 2023, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in partnership with Bangsamoro Airport Authority (BAA) under the management of Officer In-Charge, Director-I Atty. Hanamir N. Emblawa, CPA and Airport Manager-III Carmencita O. Salik, and Cotabato (Awang) Airport Manager-I Johari L. Musa conducted the HAZMAT Simulation Exercise at Cotabato (Awang) Airport, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte yesterday, March 20, 2023.

SSUPT Jeraniel C. Taporco, Fire Director of BFP Lanao del Sur presented the overview of the exercise in line with the BFP Modernization Program under Executive Order No. 56 Series of 2018. The HAZMAT simulation drill enabled our staff to become proficient as initial responders to such incidents and prepared them with necessary emergency resources, given the possibility of unexpected threats and emergencies. Individuals from the previous training session applied their expertise and understanding to contribute to the seamless execution of the event.

Moreover, the team appreciated the help of Tactical Operations Group 12 of Philippine Air Force, Special Mission Aviation (Aeroscout) Company of Philippine Army, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, Philippine Airlines for lending their space, equipment, and people for a successful simulation exercise.

Also present were the observers from Cotabato Regional and Medical Center, Cotabato Light and Power Company, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management of Datu Odin Sinsuat, Cotabato City Police Office, Office of the Civil Defense, DOS Philippine National Police, Philippine Air Force, 6th Infantry Division of Philippine Army, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Cebu Pacific Air, and Civil Aeronautics Board of the Bangsamoro.
