On September 4, 2024, the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP AVSEG), in collaboration with the PNP Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine (EOD K9) Group, conducted a thorough aviation security briefing, bomb awareness seminar, and a simulated explosive device detonation (SimEx EID) at Jolo Airport.
This exercise, executed in partnership with the Bangsamoro Airport Authority (BAA) Jolo, the Office of the Transportation Security (OTS), and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), aimed to bolster the preparedness of security personnel and stakeholders in handling potential bomb threats.
The event included a detailed review of the latest security protocols, followed by a controlled explosion scenario, which allowed participants to practice essential response measures such as evacuation, area cordoning, and emergency coordination. This realistic drill was crucial in ensuring that all involved were well-equipped to manage and mitigate risks effectively.
