BPMA validates Port Projects in Maguindanao, LDS

The Bangsamoro Ports Management Authority (BPMA), headed by General Manager Garib A. Abas with the directives of Minister Dickson P. Hermoso of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications-BARMM, conducts port project validation on the 2019 to 2022 port projects implemented by the Ministry of Public Works in the Provinces of Maguindanao and Lanao Del Sur from March 27-31, 2022.

A total of (16) sixteen port projects are validated, and the other remaining port projects are scheduled for subsequent validation. Most of the validated port projects are classified as fish ports that can cater small fishing vessels.

The BPMA’s Technical Team, during the validation, checks on the projects and sees to it that it will improve the port’s capacity and efficiency and increase competitiveness to be a regional hub in the transshipment of small fishing vessels. These gateways in Maguindanao and Lanao Del Sur are expected to significantly improve the Bangsamoro region’s physical connectivity and boost its economic progress in rural areas.

After establishing, compiling, and analyzing the report results, the team presents it to Minister Hermoso for updating and discussing the next course of action. Furthermore, as of this date, the project validations in the Island Provinces of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi (BASULTA) are still ongoing.
