Under the provisions of the Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 13, Title XV, Chapter 4, Section 29, the inaugural Governing Board Session of the Bangsamoro Ports Management Authority (BPMA) marked a significant milestone in the region’s maritime governance to establish a robust framework for port management and development.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders, members of the Board, and representatives from the Ministry of Public Works (MPW), Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism (MTIT), Ministry of Agriculture, fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), Ministry of Finance, Budget and Management (MFBM), Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA), Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy (MENRE), Bangsamoro Ports Management Authority (BPMA), and Bangsamoro Maritime Industry Authority (BMARINA).
Under the leadership of the BPMA Board Chairperson Atty. Paisalin P. Tago, CPA, and with the collaborative efforts of various ministries, the meeting set a precedent for transparent and inclusive decision-making processes vital for the region’s economic prosperity.
By addressing crucial matters such as tariff adoption and project prioritization, the BPMA aims to optimize port operations while ensuring the equitable distribution of resources for the benefit of all stakeholders.
This inaugural gathering signifies a pivotal moment in Bangsamoro’s maritime landscape and also underscores the collective resolve to navigate challenges and unlock opportunities in advancing the region’s port management agenda, highlighting the BPMA’s commitment to enhancing revenue collection and fostering sustainable growth across Bangsamoro’s port infrastructure.
