BMARINA enforces stricter document checking of vessels

The Bangsamoro Maritime Industry Authority (BMARINA), headed by Chief Maritime Industry Development Officer Alonto A. Sahiron of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications-BARMM, through its Provincial Offices in Tawi-Tawi and Jolo, conducted a series of vessel inspections in Bongao (Tawi-Tawi) and Jolo Ports.

The inspection and validation aimed to rigorously check seaworthiness certificates issued to vessels. Document review and assessment were conducted to determine compliance with BMARINA’s relevant provisions and certification procedures, policies, rules, and regulations.

BMARINA-Sulu Provincial Head Engr. Alnimar S. Mudjahirin, through Shipping Operations Specialist I As-cidqkan N. Abraham, and BMARINA-Tawi-Tawi Provincial Head Ibrahim S. Rugasan, in collaboration with the Maritime Police, held this routinary activity simultaneously in conjunction with the agency’s regulatory power, which includes, among others, to inspect all registered vessels in BARMM and ascertain its manning and other detailed requirements.
