BAA works with AVSEC experts to train airport security personnel


In its effort to strengthen enforcement, monitoring, and application of airport security preventative measures, the Bangsamoro Airport Authority (BAA) of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications-BARMM security personnel of Cotabato (Awang) Airport undertakes a 10-day Basic Aviation Security Course at Hotel Al-Maser, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao, from March 21-31, 2022.

BAA Airport Manager Ill/Regional Head Carmencita O. Salik and Cotabato (Awang) Airport Manager Johari L. Musa initiate this training to strengthen the Bangsamoro Airport Authority security forces posture against threats of terrorism and any acts of unlawful interference. Thus, this training will be in three batches. Two others from Sulu and Tawi-Tawi Airport security personnel will undergo the same.

Instructors From Civil Aviation Training Center( CATC), a certified Aviation Security (AVSEC) partner of the Office for Transportation Security(OTS), Armando R. Magsipoc, Chief, Training Unit CAP Security, and Intelligence Service, Manila and Edgar C. Barinan, Chief, CAAP Security and Intelligence Service (CSIS) of General Santos City Airport serve as Resource Speakers for module I-XV of this course and share expertise and experience to the entry-level security of the ministry’s airport management.

Meanwhile, during the opening program, MOTC top brass officials, Minister Dickson P. Hermoso, Deputy Minister Abunawas L. Maslamama, and Director General Atty. Roslaine L. Macao-Maniri show support and encourage the participants through a message of inspiration.

One of the core mandates of the BAA is to assure multiple layers of protection in the landside as it is necessary for safe operations across the aviation transportation network in BARMM.
