The Bangsamoro Airport Authority (BAA) and the Civil Aeronautics Board of Bangsamoro (CABB) collaboratively initiated an extensive Security Culture Training Program from the Office of Transport Security (OTS) on January 16-17, 2024, at the BAA Conference Room, Cotabato (Awang) Airport, DOS, MDN, commemorating the 1st anniversary since the official turnover of landside operations from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) to the Bangsamoro Government. Acknowledging the historical significance, the BARMM became the pioneer in the country to undergo such training—a testament to the region’s commitment to ensuring security and preparedness.
This strategic initiative aligns with the vision of Minister Tago of ensuring the safety and efficiency of air transportation in the region that resonates with the overarching directive of Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim’s dedication to service with a deep compassion toward making a positive change.
The training stressed the role of transportation and communications sectors in a risk-resilient environment. As security is everyone’s responsibility, the discussions focused on ensuring strict adherence to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards, policies, and globally recognized training methodologies attended by heads from BPMA, BLTO, BLTFRB, and BTC. Trainers leading the program include Cecilia O. Bona, MPA, Training Specialist IV; Bernalyn I. Sison, MPA, Training Specialist III, and PBGEN Rodelio B. Jocson (Ret), MPSA, Director IV.
With landside operations under the jurisdiction of BARMM, MOTC is gearing up to launch the year with operational effectiveness to heightened security measures, enhanced professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to maintaining international aviation standards.
