Strengthening Regional Development: Minister Tago Engages with Basilan Stakeholders on Bangsamoro Revenue Code and Transportation Initiatives

On September 5, a pivotal public consultation in Lamitan City, Basilan, led by Minister Paisalin Tago of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC). The focus was on the Bangsamoro Revenue Code, which aims to reshape the financial landscape of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Stakeholders from Basilan Province expressed the need for the code to reflect local economic and social realities. They stressed the importance of incorporating provisions that support small and medium enterprises and improve infrastructure to stimulate regional economic growth.

Minister Tago also used this visit to address ongoing MOTC development initiatives in Basilan. He outlined current projects aimed at enhancing transportation infrastructure and improving connectivity between remote areas and urban centers. These improvements are vital for fostering economic development by providing better access to markets, educational opportunities, and healthcare services.
