BMARINA-Sulu Provincial Office conducted an inspection of the vessels at Julu Port

Whereas the riding public is consistently complaining of poor maintenance, cleanliness, and order of the facilities onboard shipping lines plying Jolo-Tawi Tawi-Zamboanga City and Vice Versa, and the mandate of the Philippine Coast Guard, BMARINA, and the Regional Port Authority;
Whereas to compliment the Memorandum Circular No. 148 of the Maritime Industry Authority, the Quarantine Act of 2004, pursuant to Republic Act 19271, and the Presidential Decree No. 856, so is the Sanitation Code of the Philippines, requires among others, ships to have onboard medical personnel in relation to the number of passengers and duration of the voyage, all geared towards the maintenance of health and sanitation on shipping lines, and that the necessary standards of hygiene and cleanliness of ships be maintain at all time;
Ordained by the Sangguniang Bayan of the Municipality of Jolo, Sulu, Ordinance No. 006 s. 2016, “AN ORDINANCE TO MAINTAIN HEALTH AND SANITATION OF FACILITIES ONBOARD OF ALL SHIPPING LINES PLYING JOLO-TAWI TAWI-ZAMBOANGA CITY AND VICE VERSA”
The BMARINA-Sulu Provincial Office conducted an inspection of the vessels today January 19, 2022 at Jolo, Sulu Port, implementing the said Ordinance, and shall thereinafter observe the compliance of all vessels plying in Jolo Port as to their standard hygiene and cleanliness is maintained.
