MOTC- BMARINA Participates the 1st Founding Anniversary of Philippine Coast Guard District BARMM
The inauguration of the Philippine Coast Guard in the BARMM Region can be traced back to the conceptualization of Republic Act 11054 as “An Act Providing for the Organic Law for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao”- The Philippine Coast Guard is a civilian arm uniformed service attached to the Philippines’ Department of Transportation, tasked primarily with enforcing laws within Philippine waters, conducting maritime security operations, safeguarding life and property at sea, and protecting marine environment and resources.
The PCG BARMM marked its 1st year in the region with this year’s theme: “Resiliency Amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic: Imposing Restrictions and Positive Outlook in Ensuring Maritime Safety and Security. Representatives from MOTC-BARMM, BMARINA, BPMA, Philippine Navy, Philippine Coast Guard, Ship Owners/Operators, and representatives of Local Government Units from the Provinces of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
MOTC-BARMM Minister Dickson Hermoso has graced the event with BMARINA Regional Head Alonto A. Sahiron. They share pleasantries with other high-ranking officers of the PCG BARMM and representatives of the Local Government Unit to enhance the communication links between them and BMARINA concerning maritime-related issues.
Awarding of Plaque of Appreciation to all outstanding individuals and attendees for their exemplary contribution to the maritime sector marked the culmination of this event. In turn, BMARINA Regional Head Alonto A. Sahiron has expressed his continued unwavering support to PCG BARMM in implementing maritime-related laws.
