To unify varying stakeholders towards a single vision, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications-BARMM through the Bangsamoro Maritime Industry Authority (BMARINA) held a Maritime Summit in the Province of Basilan on December 10, 2022.
The undertaking aimed to improve the maritime Security and law enforcement operation in BARMM through a high-level knowledge-sharing platform. It served as a venue to further intensify enforcement activities concerning water transportation.
The summit brought together key leaders representing different sectors, maritime market players, law enforcers, local leaders of Basilan, officials of the Bangsamoro Ports Management Authority (BPMA), and other organizations.
“Collaborative efforts among different sectors will strengthen linkages and partnership to ensure that maritime services are effectively and efficiently delivered to our people as well as aligning the implementation and formulation of laws, rules and regulations, and policies.” Minister Paisalin P. Tago said in his message.
The summit concluded with a unified statement of support from all the major maritime-related stakeholders and agencies.
