On October 2, 2024, a ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) took place at the Edsa Shangri-La Hotel, marking a significant step toward establishing a Quality Management System (QMS) certifiable to the ISO 9001:2015 standard for the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Initiated by the Internal Audit Section, this initiative aims to enhance the management, core, and support processes within the ministry, ultimately improving the quality of services provided to its customers.

The event was attended by top executives, including Atty. Paisalin Tago, Director II for Administrative and Finance Services (AFS) Lady Hanifah R. Mindalano -Alonto, who lead discussions on the importance of the ISO 9001:2015 standard. This globally recognized certification underscores a commitment to quality and efficiency, and its implementation is expected to elevate the operational standards of the MOTC-BARMM. By fostering an understanding of the principles and requirements of ISO 9001:2015, the ministry aims to build a foundation for continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

In preparation for the certification, key officers and staff will undergo training to develop their capabilities in both the preparation and maintenance of the QMS. This capacity-building initiative will ensure that all personnel are well-equipped to implement the necessary documentation and processes required for certification. The emphasis on enhancing internal processes is crucial, as it directly correlates with improved service delivery and operational transparency.

The MOA signing signifies a collective commitment to quality improvement within the MOTC-BARMM for sustained advancements in service delivery. As the ministry embarks on this journey toward ISO certification, the expected outcomes include not only enhanced operational efficiency but also a stronger public trust in the services rendered to the community. This initiative represents a salient move toward establishing a culture of excellence within the organization, benefiting both the staff and the constituents they serve.
